It is a manual therapy, for example massage, which focuses on detecting and releasing trigger points

Others are Chiropractic care and Dry Needling.

Sometimes referred to Myofascial trigger point therapy or Neuromuscular therapy.

Myofascial trigger points!!

💆🏾‍♀️Small sections of muscle that have gone into spasm and will not relax.

These are the knots that you feel, especially around your Scapular with your Trapezius Muscle.

💆🏾‍♀️The contraction of this section of muscle restricts blood flow so depletes Oxygen and builds up Metabolites, aka Lactic Acid.

When you use a muscle a lot there is a chemical reaction called Anaerobic respiration, (for example-running fast)

(Cells get the energy they need from chemical reactions of glucose.)

💆🏾‍♀️This reaction transfers energy to your cells as Lactic Acid which has a Chemical formula: C₃H₆O₃

This build up causes painful cramps

💆🏾‍♀️After strenuous exercise you continue to breath quickly. This extra oxygen reacts with the Lactic Acid, breaking it down to Carbon dioxide and Water, the cramps will then disappear.

When this does not happen fully, these trigger points are left.

💆🏾‍♀️Hence Trigger Point Therapy works on breaking these down and eliminating the excess back through your lymphatic system.

At Tranquil Therapies, our chair massage routine is specifically designed to focus on these areas. Unbelievably in 15minutes, we can release a large amount of these.

💆🏾‍♀️We also are stockists of the HoMEDICS massage therapy products so can recommend after care to keep up the affects of your massage.
